How to Successfully Plan a Field Trip
Choose a destination aligned with your curriculum. Field trips are a lot of fun, but they are also a way to reinforce what children are learning in the classroom in a new and exciting way. To get the most out of yours, pick a destination that aligns with your curriculum plan—for example, Mustang Mountain Coaster is a smart destination for classes studying the local geography or the history of the Estes Park area.
Make sure your schedule is set. Regardless of what age range you are planning a field trip for, keeping kids busy is key to ensuring they are engaged and learning throughout the whole trip. Set a schedule that involves each activity you want the children to engage with so you can be sure that all of your hours are accounted for.
Ensure there are enough chaperones. There are no hard and fast rules for how many chaperones to have, as it is important to consider your students’ age, behavior history, maturity level, and the activity at hand.
