If you are planning on experiencing Colorado this summer, congratulations! While our snowy section of the Rockies is a sight to see in the winter, summer is such a fun time for families to visit. With fantastic weather and plenty of things to do, you and your loved ones are sure to have a blast!
Depending on where you are coming from, Colorado might be a bit different than what you are used to in the summer months. With all-around mild weather and plenty to do, you are definitely going to want to pack your favorite activewear and best pair of boots—but more on that below.
What to Pack for a Colorado Summer Vacation
An adventurous spirit. There are so many amazing things to do in Colorado during the summertime, you may not believe it! From hiking the countless trails in Rocky Mountain National Park to exploring the little mountain towns that dot Colorado’s Front Range, you will certainly want to bring your curiosity and love for adventure along! Whether you want to try mountain biking, horseback riding, kayaking, a mountain coaster, or any of the other incredible activities we have to offer in the area, you are sure to find adventure wherever you seek it.
Plenty of activewear. With this much beauty surrounding you, it is impossible to not have the urge to get out and enjoy it! Depending on your itinerary, you will likely want to pack hiking boots, sunglasses, and clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You also want to bring a hiking pack for trail essentials such as granola bars and extra water. Plus, do not forget to bring plenty of sunscreen!
Lots to layer with. While summer typically lends itself to warm temperatures, even in the Rockies, if you are going to be doing anything at high elevation, you will want to be sure you bring some layering items with you as well—some mountains remain snow-capped well into the summer season! Fleeces, technical shirts, and lightweight leggings can help you be more comfortable in case things get chilly at high altitudes.
